Bedug Kyai Bagelen
The drum band served to broadcast Islamic religion from generation to generation in the Purworejo District of the 19th century. Bedug Kyai Bagelen is located at the Great Mosque of Kauman, west of Purworejo Square. According to historical records, when the Diponegoro were was completed 1825-1830, the Dutch East Indies Government appointed leaders from the indigenous community to rule the Land of Bagelen. The regent at that time Kanjeng Raden Tumenggung Cokronegoro 1 and the position of Patih were entrusted to Raden Cokrojoyo. Based on the inscriptions affixed to the main door, the construction was completed, the regent of Cokronegoro 1 had the idea to complete it with a drum that had to be made special so that it became a warning sign later on. There is a new problem when the drum is finished, which is the transfer from Pendowo Hamlet (Jenar) to Purworejo City, which is about 9 km away with very difficult road conditions. His transfer was carried out by workers who raised him in tandem accompanied by the sound of the gamelan complete with tayub dancers who were waiting at each stop post. Finally after going through a long and tiring journey, Bedug Kyai Bagelen arrived at the Great Mosque of Purworejo regency. Now, Bedug Kyai Bagelen is placed inside the Mosque's porch.
